Introduction

Our SEN Information Report – which is part of Durham County Council’s Local Offer – provides details about how we support children and young people with Special Educational Needs in our school.

The SEN Information Report was reviewed and updated in February 2021.

What is the Local Authority Local Offer?

Local Authorities (LA) and schools are required to publish and keep under review information about services they expect to be available for children and young people with special educational needs (SEN) aged 0-25. This is called the ‘Local Offer’.

The intention of the Local Offer is to improve choice for families and will also be an important resource for parents in understanding the range of services and provision in the local area.

The current link to the LA Local Offer website can be found at: www.countydurhamfamilies.info

At Cockfield Primary, we recognise that all pupils are entitled to a quality of provision that will enable them to achieve their potential. We believe in positive intervention, removing barriers to learning, raising expectations and levels of achievement and working in partnership with other agencies in order to provide a positive educational experience for all our pupils including those with a special educational need or disability.

We have appointed a Designated Teacher for Looked after Children, we have A SENCO , who work closely with all staff to ensure everyone understands the implications for those children who are looked after and have SEN.  We have a designated SEND governor who works closely with the SENCO to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of SEND provision.

This guide aims to detail our ‘Local Offer’ to children and families who have an interest in, or need additional SEND provision.  If you should require any additional information please contact Mrs Woods and we would be happy to answer any questions you may have.

This SEND Information Report should be read alongside the school’s SEND Policy, the Equalities Information and Objectives and the Accessibility Plan.
