As a whole school we have celebrated British Science week Friday 6th March – Friday 13th March 2020. We launched our Science week by welcoming Paul Harwood, Assistant Head teacher and Head of Science at Staindrop School to discuss what Science is and famous Scientists.
Then, every child brought into school a white shirt that they could decorate with key vocabulary and symbols to represent Science, this would be their lab coat for the week.
All classes EYFS- Year 6 took part in a series of experiments through the week. EYFS made and investigated corn flour slime and are growing cress. Year 1 – Year 6 took part in investigations based around the theme ‘Our diverse planet’ from STEM. Year 5 and 6 were lucky enough to take part in an experiment at Staindrop Secondary school and Year 3 and Year 4 took part in a mining experiment at Beamish. Year 1 and Year 2 took their experiments outside and looked at diverse people!
We have all had a fantastic week and enjoyed investigating and using our enquiry skills to learn and find out about the world around us.
