FREE Activities : Durham County Council

9th July 2021 By stephanieharrison

Dear Parent / Carer / School

Holiday activities and food programme – Summer 2021

Durham County Council has received central government funding to deliver a series of sports and swimming camps with food programmes FREE throughout County Durham this summer.

As a result of the holiday activities with food programme funding we want children who attend this provision to:

· Eat more healthily over the school holidays

· Be more active during the school holidays

· Take part in engaging and enriching activities which support the development of resilience, character, and wellbeing along with their wider educational attainment.

Our sports camps are available for your child / children FREE of charge and will include a packed lunch including a freshly made sandwich, fruit, water, and a snack. The dates and times are below for your area:

Teesdale Leisure Centre, DL12 8DS

Camp: every day for 4 days from Monday 26th July to Thursday 29th July

Times: 10am to 2pm each day

Ages: 10 to 11 years old (school year group 5 & 6)

You can book for a full 4 days or individual days by following the below instructions:

To book a place please ring Teesdale Leisure Centre Reception on 03000 260862

Please inform us or any food allergies when you make the booking. We expect the camps to be extremely busy so please inform us if you no longer require the space. This camp also has a limit of 25 places because of pool space available so book early to avoid disappointment.

The camps will be fun and energetic, including a mixture of swimming lesson top up session, swimming free time, mixed sports and games in the sports hall.

10am swimming lesson (to top up lost time schools have had for swimming this year)

11am free swim time

12noon lunch

12.30 – 2pm mixed sports activity and games
