Please click on the link to read our final news letter of this year. We hope you all have a wonderful break and we will see you all back on Thursday 2nd September 🙂
So today is the last day for our fantastic year 6s and we’ll be so sad to see them go but we all know they will be amazing in their next adventures. We will be making DVDs with the end of year performances and their own selfies and memories which we’ll get to them all in September once everything has been edited and checked but for now, here is a little photo-story of their time in school. Fingers crossed the technology works and we hope you enjoy.
Dear Parent / Carer / School
Holiday activities and food programme – Summer 2021
Durham County Council has received central government funding to deliver a series of sports and swimming camps with food programmes FREE throughout County Durham this summer.
As a result of the holiday activities with food programme funding we want children who attend this provision to:
· Eat more healthily over the school holidays
· Be more active during the school holidays
· Take part in engaging and enriching activities which support the development of resilience, character, and wellbeing along with their wider educational attainment.
Our sports camps are available for your child / children FREE of charge and will include a packed lunch including a freshly made sandwich, fruit, water, and a snack. The dates and times are below for your area:
Teesdale Leisure Centre, DL12 8DS
Camp: every day for 4 days from Monday 26th July to Thursday 29th July
Times: 10am to 2pm each day
Ages: 10 to 11 years old (school year group 5 & 6)
You can book for a full 4 days or individual days by following the below instructions:
To book a place please ring Teesdale Leisure Centre Reception on 03000 260862
Please inform us or any food allergies when you make the booking. We expect the camps to be extremely busy so please inform us if you no longer require the space. This camp also has a limit of 25 places because of pool space available so book early to avoid disappointment.
The camps will be fun and energetic, including a mixture of swimming lesson top up session, swimming free time, mixed sports and games in the sports hall.
10am swimming lesson (to top up lost time schools have had for swimming this year)
11am free swim time
12.30 – 2pm mixed sports activity and games
School will be open as normal on Monday morning but if your child is a football fan and is likely to be staying up until after 11pm on Sunday, then we have planned a relaxed start to allow them to have a little bit of extra time in bed. We will be here at the normal time but registers will stay open until 10.00am and children will not be marked late as long as they are in by 10am.
They can also come to school in their football kits or anything red and white and who knows? If England win and it doesn’t rain there might be another sing along on the yard which will be joined this time by our lovely key stage 1 children who we’ve missed so much this week.
This is a one-off opportunity, it’s 55 years since England reached a major football final and it’s been a hard year, so I think everyone deserves to celebrate.
PLEASE NOTE THIS IS OPTIONAL, WRAPAROUND AND EVERYTHING ELSE WILL RUN AS NORMAL AND WE WILL BE HERE AT THE NORMAL TIME.
Please see the attached letter from Mrs Woods
Due to the sharp rise in COVID cases in schools and in our local community we have had to make the hard decision to run all end of term events for children only. We will record our leavers’ assembly and publish it online but there will be no parents or additional visitors. This includes the Teddy Bear’s Picnic, Sports Day and the Year 6 leavers picnic. Apologies for the inconvenience and disappointment, details of how parents can view these events from home will be provided soon.
Wednesday 7th July
To celebrate the fantastic performance of our England team on Saturday and to prepare for Wednesday’s next match, we will be having a football theme day in school. On Wednesday 7th July children can come to school in their football kits or anything red and white and we’ll have lots of football related fun. For those who are isolating at home, we’ve put some football related tasks in your work packs and would love to see pictures of you joining in from home.
Home learning packs will be available to collect from school from 8.30 on Monday morning. They include lots of skills practise sheets and activities for the children to do at home. We took on board feedback about printing from last time so all of the activities are printed ready for you. They also have a new reading book for each child. We are arranging daily fun sessions on Microsoft teams for those who can join us and all learning materials will also be accessible from this page if you are unable to come to school to collect. The packs can be collected any time on Monday or we can send them home with siblings if you prefer. There is no pressure on parents to complete the work as I know everyone is tired and so are the children, all we ask is that you do your best. There will be special awards to reward those who do well. As always we’re always available by the phone or email if you need us.
