WOW Project to Begin in School!

16th January 2017 By clairecowie

We had a special visitor in school on the 11th January! Nina, from the Living Streets charity, came into school and held a launch assembly for the ‘WOW project’.

The project aims to encourage children to come to school by some form of active travel at least once per week. The children can walk, cycle or even come by scooter in order to be rewarded with a special collectable badge each month. Any children living too far away from school are encouraged to ask their parents or carers to park at least five minutes away from the school and walk in.

The children will log their method of travel each day and will be able to see their progress build up towards their badges. They are all very excited to get started so any support and encouragement you can give them will be much appreciated!

Donating our shoe boxes

14th December 2016 By clairecowie

On Tuesday 13th December some members of the Pupil Task Force visited the children’s’ ward at Darlington Memorial Hospital. They hand delivered the shoe boxes and presents that had kindly been donated by the children of our school and their parents/carers.

We arrived at the ward in the morning and were able to meet Emma Boothe who works hard to make sure the children have play facilities whilst they are in hospital.

Everyone on the ward was so grateful for all of our gifts and they gave us a lovely card to say thank you. Being in hospital at Christmas is a very difficult time for patients and their families so we are sure that our kind gifts will help put a smile on lots of faces.

We had an amazing time on the ward and the Pupil Task Force would like to say a huge thankyou to everybody who donated!

Mrs Gregson.

Our Town called Christmas

12th December 2016 By clairecowie

Our towns called Christmas!
This week the Robins have learnt that there is a real town in Florida, USA called Christmas!
They were so excited to learn that this town has a 25ft Christmas tree which is decorated and on display all year round!
The children then designed their own town called Christmas in groups. They decided on festive street names and names for businesses! We had Santa Street, Red Rudolph Road, the Donkey Disco, Cracker Cafe and the 3 Wise Houses to name a few!
The children then presented their project to the rest of the class whilst another group recorded it. We had great fun watching the videos back later!
Everyone really enjoyed the project and the maps the children created were fantastic so please have a look!
Well done Robins and a big Merry Christmas from all of us here in Class 3.
