Have a look at our delicious new menus for the summer term!
Science
We have been exploring materials and their properties this term. We have investigated materials and sorted them and looked at why different materials are used to make different things. We went around our school and found out what parts of it are made out of and talked about why they were good materials for the job. We investigated waterproof materials to see which was the best. We also learnt how to use thermometers and used them to undertake an investigate to find out which material was the best thermal insulator.
We had a lot of fun on Red Nose Day raising money for charity. Here are some photos from the day including some of us solving red nose maths problems in our super challenge.
Frogspawn
The frogs have returned to the school pond ready to lay this year’s frogspawn. In class 2 we went out to investigate before going back to our class and learning about life cycles.
Chickens
Class 2 have been learning about life cycles and about the things animals need to grow and how we care for them. We incubated eggs for 21 days and hatched some chicks. The chicks were later returned to a local farm.
3D Shapes
Here’s class 2 finding out the properties of 3D shapes.
Red Nose Day Talent Show
Well done to all of the children who took part in our Red Nose Day talent show!
Red Nose Day
Class 2 had a wonderful time celebrating Red Nose Day.
They took part in lots of special activities, wore their own clothes and many of them also took part in the talent show!
Cockfield Primary School raised £134 for Comic Relief and sold 120 red noses!
Cockfield Win Football Trophy
On 28th March 2017, the year 1 and 2 football teams, played a tournament at Staindrop Academy. We are very proud that they were the winners and brought the trophy back to Cockfield! Well done everyone.
Mothers’ Day Afternoon Tea
On Wednesday 21st March and Thursday 22nd March Miss Wardle prepared a special afternoon tea to celebrate Mothers’ Day.
This was thoroughly enjoyed by both the pupils and their mothers/grandmothers/carers.
